Two confirmed tornadoes touched down in Quebec’s Eastern Townships region near Drummondville, as severe thunderstorms swept through central Quebec on June 19, 2025. Environment and Climate Change Canada confirmed the tornadoes after conducting ground and drone surveys, bringing Quebec’s 2025 tornado count to three. Danville Bears the Brunt of the Damage
The community of Danville, located approximately 40 kilometres east-southeast of Drummondville, sustained the most severe damage from the storms. A mesocyclone-type storm moved through the area, with Environment Canada meteorologists describing widespread structural damage including homes that lost their roofs and numerous trees snapped or uprooted. Between 50 and 100 millimetres of rain fell across parts of the Eastern Townships during the storm, adding flooding concerns to the tornado damage. Despite the severity of the destruction, no injuries were reported in the tornado Drummondville region, which residents and officials described as the most important outcome.
Environment Canada Confirms Two Tornadoes
The Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University conducted thorough ground and drone surveys of the affected area and confirmed that two weak tornadoes occurred in the Eastern Townships on June 19. Environment Canada initially described the event as a possible tornado before confirming the twisters through physical evidence and radar analysis. The confirmation process involved assessing damage patterns, tree fall directions and structural debris to determine whether straight-line winds or rotating thunderstorms were responsible for the destruction near Drummondville.
